Gusting 40 knots!!
Posted: 5th October 2009

To say the conditions at the Maldon Open were polar oposite to those at Budworth would be an understatement. The fleet ventured out into a mean wind speed of 26knots! - some boats remained on shore, some came home early, most swam, Alan Williams and Liz Pike won. Again!
Does the breeze in the North West always blow from Switzerland?

Budworth delivered it's usual emmental-esque mix of the light, the whispy and the absent.. That said who needs wind to sail? Mark Antonelli and new super crew Nick Devereux sailed to victory taking bullets in 6 out of 7 races!
Alan Williams and Liz Pike retain their status as National Champions.

As the rest of the fleet played snakes and ladders in the shifty offshore Paignton breeze, Alan Williams and Liz Pike sailed clear to win 6 out of 7 races. Alan is never far from a ladder and Liz clearly doesn't like snakes! Read more..

Who knew Snipers could take such a disliking to racing marks - was there any need to hit them soo many times? The wing mark must have been in danger of deflating!

Marshalls win Shoreham Open
Posted: 9th May 2009

11 boats competed in the second Shoreham open. Competitors travelled from Cheshire, Essex and Kent to join 1 home boat. Force 3 to 4 winds provided ample wind for all 4 races. With offshore wind on the Sunday, large gains were to be had in the significant shifts, and the SW onshore breeze on the Monday provided opportunities for losses and gains to be made on the building waves. All four races were set to an Olympic course with a downwind finish; places where fought for to the end, although the Marshall brothers Iain and Richard prevailed to take 3 of the 4 Races, this was despite a premature start for one of them. Shoreham Open this weekend!.
Posted: 29th April 2009

Don't forget the Shoreham Open is this weekend (2nd and 3rd May). South coast sailing at its best. We are hoping for a stiff breeze and some moderate swell for the first clash of the season. The racing starts on Sunday but I hear a rumour of a few shandies on the Saturday. See you there.
Great News.
